After another ugly regular-season performance due to poor play on offense that barely earned the Pittsburgh Steelers a spot in the NFL playoffs, longtime team owner Art Rooney II let it be known that he will demand results moving forward and won’t tolerate another first-round exit in the postseason.
As a result of the hammer coming down from Rooney, the Steelers have been extremely active during the NFL offseason, with an emphasis on revamping the quarterback position, as it became painfully clear that Kenny Pickett was not the answer.
The Steelers decided to take a chance on veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, signing him to a one-year deal after two disappointing years with the Denver Broncos.
The team didn’t stop there as they also acquired Justin Fields in a deal with the Chicago Bears and then traded Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, meaning the quarterback will look much different moving forward.
According to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, Pittsburgh has signed journeyman quarterback Kyle Allen in addition to bringing in Wilson and Fields.
Steelers have also agreed to terms with QB Kyle Allen and DE Dean Lowry, GM Omar Khan says.

After going undrafted in 2018, Allen ended up signing with the Carolina Panthers and has been on the move ever since, as he’s played for the Washington Commanders, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills before landing with the Steelers.
As of right now, it seems as though there will be a quarterback competition for the starting job between Fields and Wilson, while Allen will likely be at the bottom of the depth chart in Pittsburgh.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the Steelers, as training camp will be dominated by headlines of who is in the lead for the starting job.
