After another forgettable season and a disastrous performance on the offensive side of the football, which led to the team firing their offensive coordinator during the regular season, the Pittsburgh Steelers headed into the NFL offseason determined to right the ship offensively.
The first order of business for the Steelers, after making it clear that Mike Tomlin would remain the head coach for at least one more season, was addressing their issues at the quarterback position, as it became clear that Kenny Pickett isn’t ready for the starting role under center in Pittsburgh.
That said, the team went out and brought in the veteran quarterback they had been linked to for quite some time, as they came to terms on a one-year deal with one-time Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson.
With Wilson now in the fold and having another chance to resurrect his career in the league, the Steelers are looking for other ways to upgrade the offense, especially after trading wide receiver Diontae Johnson.
According to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic, the team and former Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tyler Boyd have a mutual interest.
Steelers and WR Tyler Boyd (Pitt/Clairton) have mutual interest and have had dialogue about him returning to his hometown. Nothing is imminent but there is more than just smoke with it. Steelers need a WR with Diontae Johnson traded & George Pickens only experienced WR on roster

Although Boyd may not be a game-changer for the Steelers, he’d still be a welcome addition to the passing game in Pittsburgh, as he’d take on a more significant role and could be on his way to a breakout season.
Last season, Boyd caught 67 passes for 667 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the division-rival Bengals.
With the Steelers investing in Wilson to be the starter moving forward, they’ll likely do the same in trying to bring in weapons for him.
