During his notable career in sports media, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has been known to take any advantage to troll the Dallas Cowboys and their fans whenever the opportunity has presented itself.
Recently, however, Smith shared some thoughts that might actually come as a shock to some Cowboys fans because of how positive they are.
On Friday, the ESPN analyst declared that Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott has played well enough this season to be included in the conversation to win the league’s MVP award (via First Take on Twitter).

On Thursday night, Prescott helped the Cowboys improve their record to 9-3 this season by getting a 41- 35 win over a competitive Seattle Seahawks team.
During the contest, the Dallas quarterback completed 70.7 percent of his passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns, which resulted in him finishing with a 115.8 passer rating.
Prescott has now had a passer rating of at least 105.0 in eight of the Cowboys’ 12 games this season.
Overall, the Dallas quarterback is having one of the best single-season performances of his NFL career, and it’s a big reason why people like Smith believe he deserves to be in the MVP conversation.
In his 12 starts this year, Prescott has completed 70.1 percent of his passes, averaged 269.5 passing yards per game, thrown a league-leading 26 touchdowns, only tossed six interceptions, and rushed for 174 yards and two scores.
To be fair to Smith, he’s not fully aboard the Prescott bandwagon, as he did say that Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles is currently the MVP frontrunner.
But Dallas and their fans should really just be happy with a rare compliment from the longtime ESPN analyst.
