After 24 seasons with the New England Patriots and six Super Bowl titles won during that time, legendary head coach Bill Belichick is looking for work with longtime team owner Robert Kraft deciding it was time to part ways.
With Belichick now unemployed, the Patriots have moved on with Jerod Mayo becoming the new head coach of the storied NFL franchise, which is a major step in a different direction after over two decades with Belichick at the helm.
Along with Bill Belichick looking for where he’ll continue his coaching career, which probably won’t be until the NFL offseason with all the coaching vacancies filled in the league, his son Steve Belichick has also moved on from New England in an attempt to carve his own path elsewhere.
Steve Belichick decided to take the job as the new defensive coordinator for the University of Washington and couldn’t help but crack a joke at his father’s expense during his introductory press conference with the team via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
“We definitely have similarities,” Steve Belichick said. “I got a job, and he doesn’t.”

As Steve Belichick is trying to make a name for himself as a defensive coordinator on the college level, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Bill Belichick, as there’s no telling whether he’ll continue his pursuit of Don Shula’s record or potentially call it a career if he can’t find the right opportunity.
It’ll be interesting to see what Bill Belichick does in the meantime while waiting for his new gig in the NFL.
