Lamar Jackson entered the league as a wild card.
As a late first-round draft pick, the Baltimore Ravens took a chance on him and his unique play style, which has certainly turned out well for them.
Jackson has become one of the best quarterbacks in the league and is coming off his second career MVP award.
There have been some doubters along the way, but Jackson continues to prove them wrong, as he is becoming more and more established as a passer.
Steve Young recently sat down to talk with Kevin Oestreicher to discuss what Jackson has accomplished to this point, and what he can do in the future.
“The arc of his career has been slowed by Baltimore’s fanaticism with the run. They’ve come out of that trance… [He’s a] player that has the potential to be as great as anyone we’ve ever seen play,” Young said.

In Young’s mind, the Ravens are just now starting to utilize Jackson the right way.
He was mainly seen as a mobile threat when he came into the league, which continues to be a big part of his game.
However, because the Ravens allowed him to pass more in 2023 than he had in previous seasons, Jackson’s full game is being developed at a higher level.
In a way, Young feels like the Ravens did him a disservice by having him run so much early in his career, but with some personnel changes, they are getting him back on track.
Jackson and the Ravens established a lot of momentum during the 2023 season, making it to the AFC Championship.
Will they be able to replicate that success next season?
