Paula Badosa’s Shocking Comeback Plans Unveiled After Terrifying Injury Ordeal
Tennis star Paula Badosa has left fans on the edge of their seats as she reveals her anticipated comeback following a harrowing back injury that forced her out of multiple tournaments. The world No. 11 recently had to bow out of the Merida Open and opted to skip Indian Wells and the Charleston Open due to the distressing injury setback.
Badosa, no stranger to battling back issues, was once warned by doctors that continuing her career could be “very complicated.” The Spaniard faced a similar ordeal last year with a stress fracture in her back, which prompted her to end her 2023 season prematurely. Despite a challenging return to the court, Badosa managed to claw her way back to the top 10 rankings, currently holding the 11th spot in the world.
In a recent interview with El Larguero, Badosa opened up about the fear instilled by her latest injury, admitting, “This time I was more scared than I should have been because it was on the opposite side. I’ve always had discomfort on the right side, and now it’s on the left. I was worried it was another stress fracture, but fortunately it isn’t.”
Although the setback rattled the 27-year-old, she remains optimistic about her recovery timeline. Badosa aims to make a triumphant return to the court at the WTA 1000 in Madrid, scheduled to commence on April 22. She assured fans, “My goal is to be back in Madrid.”
Last year, Badosa resorted to cortisone injections to manage the pain from her previous back injury, a method she had to employ again during the Miami Open. Recounting the events that led to her recent injury flare-up, Badosa shared, “In Miami, it seemed to be doing very well, but when I returned to compete, I made the same gesture, a forehand, again.”
Despite the physical challenges she’s facing, Badosa is fortunate that her upcoming injury layoff won’t have a significant impact on her ranking, as she is defending just 61 points before the Madrid Open. Fans eagerly await her return to the court, hoping to witness her triumphant comeback after this latest obstacle.
