The dynamic duo of Polish tennis, Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz, are once again joining forces for this year’s Eisenhower Cup, eyeing the coveted Tie-Break Tens title and a substantial prize purse of $200k. Slated for March 4th, the duo is ready to serve up a storm.
The Eisenhower Cup, hosted by the Indian Wells organizers since 2022, is a glitzy extravaganza acting as a prelude to the season’s main tournament. The event features a star-powered lineup of eight teams, each battling it out in a unique format where every match is decided by a 10-point tie-break.
The 2025 edition promises to be just as thrilling, boasting an impressive ensemble of tennis stars. Apart from Swiatek and Hurkacz, the confirmed participants include Elena Rybakina & Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys & Tommy Paul, Emma Navarro & Ben Shelton, Paula Badosa & Stefanos Tsitsipas, Katie Boulter & Alex de Minaur, and Jasmine Paolini & Lorenzo Musetti.
In 2023, Swiatek and Hurkacz, fondly referred to as ‘HUBIGA,’ narrowly missed lifting the Eisenhower Cup trophy, succumbing to Aryna Sabalenka and Fritz 8-10 in the final showdown. They are now set to make a triumphant return, aiming to clinch the title that eluded them.
The previous year saw Navarro and Shelton emerge as victors, adding another layer of competition for the Polish pair.
Swiatek and Hurkacz boast of a commendable track record, having already gained mixed doubles experience earlier this year. They claimed victories over Ulrikke Elkeri & Casper Ruud and Tomas Machac & Karolina Muchova at the United Cup. The duo has an impressive 6-1 win-loss record, demonstrating their formidable partnership.
Reflecting on her partnership with Hurkacz, Swiatek said, “It was amazing. It was the first time I had the opportunity to play with Hubi.” She added, “When he serves, it’s the best feeling ever. I don’t have to do anything on the volleys, so I love it! He gives a lot of positive energy and I am the one who usually needs it.”
As the Eisenhower Cup approaches, all eyes are on the dynamic Polish duo as they gear up to prove their mettle and make their mark on the global tennis stage.
