The NFL is a grueling league.
It doesn’t matter what position an athlete plays; each one brings it’s own set of physical and mental challenges.
This league wears on players in different ways, and after taking hits for so many years, thoughts of retirement can creep in.
Terron Armstead recently spoke about this in a conversation on NFL Total Access on NFL Network, which was shared by Around The NFL.
“In all honesty, the past two, maybe three seasons, I’ve taken time to have that evaluation period, to really process,” Armstead said.

Armstead understands that his time in the NFL is coming to a close and that he doesn’t have many years left.
He has already started to think about what life will be like without being an NFL athlete, a transition that is difficult for many players.
NFL athletes have generally trained for this league throughout their whole lives.
There are a lot of steps to take between pee-wee football and the NFL, and with the proper work ethic and training, they can have a chance to make it into this league.
Once they are there it is hard to leave, but as Armstead is realizing, all good things must come to an end.
It is unclear when Armstead will decide to retire, but when he does, the Miami Dolphins will need to start looking for an offensive lineman to replace him.
Armstead is a talented player and the replacement process will not be easy for a Dolphins team that is trying desperately to up their standing in the league.
