The Houston Texans found a true star in C.J. Stroud.
The young quarterback had already impressed at Ohio State, but some had doubts about his ability to take a leap forward in the pros.
However, Texans GM Nick Caserio and his staff didn’t let the outside noise drive them away from what they had seen from the young QB.
In a recent interview with Peter Schrager, Caserio talked about the intangibles that made the Texans feel confident about their selection.
What qualities did @HoustonTexans GM Nick Caserio see from CJ Stroud before Draft?
“A balance of confidence and humility. Like you believe in yourself, but you also have to make sure that there are times when you take a step back and you put your ego aside. That’s him.” pic.twitter.com/v5W1ZEYXOR

He talked about how Stroud has a balance of confidence and humility in the sense that he won’t hesitate or bat an eye if he needs to step up and be the guy, but he won’t complain if he has to take a step back for the sake of the team either.
Stroud has been spectacular in his first half-season as a pro.
He’s fresh off establishing a new rookie mark by throwing for a whopping 470 yards on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, adding five touchdowns and the game-winning drive as the cherry on top.
The Texans weren’t supposed to be in the mix for a playoff berth through the midpoint of the season, yet here we are.
And while it’s been a collective effort, Stroud has been their best player, and he should run away with Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
