The Philadelphia Phillies knew the atmosphere would be amazing for their playoff opener.
There is not a better atmosphere in baseball than that of Citizens Bank Park.
So to get the fans even more excited, the Phillies decided to have Rhys Hoskins throw out the first pitch of Game 1.
Hoskins tore his ACL in spring training and has missed the entire season.
But, if the Phillies can make it back to the World Series some think Hoskins could return to the field.
Either way, the crowd went nuts when Hoskins came out to throw the first pitch and that set the tone for the night.

Hoskins has become a fan favorite in Philly throughout his career.
Not only has he been really good on the field but he also has made a positive impact on the community.
Seeing him get hurt in spring training was a tough blow, but the rest of the Phillies have picked up the slack in his absence.
Many remember the home run Hoskins hit off Spencer Strider in last year’s playoffs.
He slammed his bat after that hit and the whole stadium erupted.
The toughest part about this injury is that Hoskins is a free agent at season’s end.
It is still uncertain if the Phillies plan to re-sign him or not.
Yet, it certainly seems like the fanbase wants to see him back in red pinstripes.
The Phillies did right by Hoskins allowing him to throw out the first pitch.
Now, it will be interesting to see if they do the same when free agency comes around.
