It’s the dawn of a new era for the Las Vegas Raiders.
We finally have our first fired coach of the season.
Josh McDaniels couldn’t make it through his second season with the team, being let go after posting a disappointing 9-16 record in one-and-a-half seasons.
General Manager Dave Ziegler was also fired, and according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, he’ll be joined by Offensive Coordinator Mick Lombardi as well.
The Raiders have also fired OC Mick Lombardi, per source.

Notably, Lombardi wasn’t in charge of play-calling, McDaniels was.
However, the Raiders’ offense was poorly designed, and the duo failed to make the most of two elite weapons like Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs.
Lombardi and McDaniels go a long way back, as he used to work under the former New England Patriots OC as an assistant quarterbacks coach and then receivers coach.
With him going, passing game coordinator Scott Turner is the top name on the list to potentially take over as the offensive coordinator.
He already has some experience in that regard, as he served as the Washington Commanders’ OC from 2020 to 2022 before being replaced by Eric Bienemy.
It’s also worth noting that Mick’s brother, Matt Lombardi, is also a part of the team’s staff, currently serving as an offensive assistant and assistant receivers coach, so his future with the organization could be iffy.
The Raiders will roll with Antonio Pierce as interim head coach and Champ Kelly as interim General Manager.
The team has a 3-5 record for the season, and while the playoffs are still a possibility, it’s a long shot.
