After another forgettable season with quarterback Daniel Jones under center, the New York Giants could be on the verge of making a change at the position, as it has become clear that he’s not the right man for the job nor will he lead this team to a Super Bowl title in the post-Eli Manning era.
Currently, the Giants have the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, which might be high enough to land one of the best quarterback prospects in the draft on April 25.
However, there’s also a chance that four of the top quarterback prospects in the draft will be off the board by the time the Giants are on the clock at No. 6 overall, with quite a few quarterback-needy teams ahead of them, like the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and teams potentially trading up.
In all likelihood, the quarterback that could be there for the taking at No. 6 overall is J.J. McCarthy out of the University of Michigan, with the consensus being that Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye will be taken with the first three picks.
Although McCarthy would be a good fit for the Giants, former star running back Tiki Barber doesn’t think his old team should bring in the Wolverines star, via WFAN Sports Radio.
“Stop with the J.J. McCarthy thing,” Barber said. “I’m tired of hearing it. His film doesn’t say he’s a first-round quarterback.”

Barber seems pretty adamant that the Giants shouldn’t trade up to draft McCarthy or even draft him if he falls to them at No. 6 overall, as he doesn’t believe he is talented enough to be a quarterback taken in the first round.
Although Barber feels this way, it remains to be seen whether the Giants brass feels that way, as New York could be eager to get a quarterback and willing to take the gamble on him.
