The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fared much better than some people expected last season.
Baker Mayfield was able to get his career back on track, and he posted some very good numbers, pretty similar to Tom Brady’s in his final season in the league.
He played himself into a new long-term deal, and while several teams could be in the hunt for a new quarterback, most reports have him staying put at Raymond James Stadium.
Recently, Pete Schrager of Good Morning Football asked head coach Todd Bowles his thoughts on Mayfield and the situation, and his response was everything you could expect.
“It’s an extremely high priority, obviously, ” Bowles said about keeping Mayfield.

Bowles claimed that the team absolutely loves Mayfield and appreciated what he put on the table last season, stating that he developed a strong chemistry with all the players and that they absolutely want him back.
Of course, he also said that people need to understand the business side of these situations, but both parties are quite optimistic about their ability to get a deal done.
Mayfield could’ve been on his way out of the league if it hadn’t been for his short stint with the Los Angeles Rams.
He earned another opportunity to prove his worth, and it now seems like he’s not going anywhere.
Still, he may never be able to live up to the expectations that come with being the No. 1 pick, but he’s done fairly better than some people thought he’d fare after his departure from Cleveland, similar to Jared Goff’s case.
