For years, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots had the National Football League in a chokehold.
Scandals, wins, and losses; he was there through it all and made sure the team stayed on top for two decades.
Brady left the team and went on to win another Super Bowl somewhere else, all but cementing his legacy as the greatest player to ever do it — or at least the winningest.
That’s why it was only right to see the Patriots not only inducting him into their Hall of Fame but also retiring his iconic No. 12 jersey.
Following Robert Kraft’s speech and in front of thousands of fans packing Gillette Stadium, you could see just how emotional Brady was when his jersey was retired.
The greatest player ever was silent, soaking it all in with glassy eyes.

It was an emotional moment for football fans all over the world, even for those who weren’t exactly fond of Brady and the Patriots.
Every now and then, an athlete becomes so utterly dominant and does so much to raise the bar for those who come after him that all fans have no choice but to tip their hats to him and pay him their respects.
That’s the case with Brady.
Some may not like him, and most people could agree that other quarterbacks were more talented or perhaps more athletic.
But no one can take anything away from him and what he accomplished, building his empire from the ground up and leaving the game as the best ever.
