Despite leading his team to one of only two undefeated records so far this season and coming off an impressive win over the Dallas Cowboys, second-year quarterback Brock Purdy’s biggest challenge has been getting any kind of respect off the field.
The San Francisco 49ers are firing on all cylinders right now while averaging 33.4 points per game on offense and crushing the competition on a weekly basis, with the win over the Cowboys (42-10) being arguably their best victory of the season thus far.
Even with everything going right and Purdy playing near-flawless football, the 23-year-old isn’t getting a lot of credit.
One former NFL superstar who knows what it’s like to be in Purdy’s position is arguably the greatest player ever to play the position in Tom Brady, who recently chimed in on what the 49ers quarterback has been able to do via SiriusXM NFL Radio.

As Brady points out, that chip on his shoulder might be helping him go out on the field and prove people wrong on a weekly basis while leading San Francisco to wins.
It seems as though Purdy will have to deal with doubters until he wins a Super Bowl title at this point, as it feels like no matter what he does on the field, critics chalk it up to being a “system quarterback” under head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Despite dealing with this every week, Purdy is doing everything right while remaining confident and doing his job to the best of his ability, which is working out great for the 49ers, who are arguably the best team in the NFL right now.
