The 2023 NFL season has been nothing short of a disaster for the New York Giants, with the team going from such a promising end to last season to being an absolute mess this season, as nothing has gone right for Brian Daboll and company.
Even though the 2023 campaign is a lost cause at this point for the Giants, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to the quarterback position, as they may have already found Daniel Jones’ successor under center.
Despite an ugly start to his NFL career, Tommy DeVito has started to turn things around, as he has led the team to two straight wins over the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots.
Things have gone so well for DeVito that he’s now among the best rookie quarterbacks in the league this season in terms of pass rating, where he comes in second to C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans, according to NFL on CBS.
Highest Pass Rating among rookies this season
(min. 50 attempts)C.J. Stroud 100.8
TOMMY DEVITO 92.4
Will Levis 88.2
Anthony Richardson 87.3 pic.twitter.com/9s2L2fu0E6— NFL on CBS (@NFLonCBS) November 26, 2023
Obviously, DeVito is no Stroud, with the Texans rookie looking like a superstar in the making in Houston, but this is a promising sign that he might be putting things together and could have a future in New York as a result of his play.
Last week, DeVito put on a show against the Commanders, where he had the best game of his career thus far, with 246 passing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
DeVito followed up that performance against the Commanders on Sunday against the Patriots, in which he threw for 191 yards and a touchdown without an interception.
