For the sixth NFL season in a row, the Kansas City Chiefs are taking part in the AFC Championship, with the latest matchup set to take place on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
Much of the Chiefs’ success in the playoffs during the last handful of years has been due to the stellar play of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.
During his career with Kansas City, Kelce has broken a number of franchise and NFL records, and against the Ravens on Sunday, he has the opportunity to add another record to his Hall of Fame resume.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs’ tight end can set a new league record for most career postseason receptions, which is currently held by Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice.

In order to pass Rice in the NFL record book, Kelce will need to finish Sunday’s AFC Championship in Baltimore with at least seven catches.
Last weekend against the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City tight end finished with five receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns, and during the Chiefs’ first-round playoff win over the Miami Dolphins during the previous week, he hauled in seven catches for 71 yards.
In addition to his two playoff performances this year, Kelce has finished with at least seven catches in five of his last seven postseason appearances.
So, the talented tight end breaking Rice’s record on Sunday is definitely a believable possibility.
It’s not going to be easy, however, as Kelce is going up against a Ravens defense that only allowed an opposing tight end to catch seven or more passes in just two of their 17 games during the 2023 regular season.
