Before the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens got underway last weekend at M&T Bank Stadium, things got a little heated between superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and arguably the best kicker in the league, Justin Tucker.
Apparently, Mahomes has a specific pregame routine that requires a fair amount of space on the football field, but Tucker refused to move his equipment or go somewhere else to do his warmups ahead of the game, which rubbed the two-time Super Bowl champion the wrong way.
Mahomes and Travis Kelce didn’t take lightly to Tucker being disrespectful before the game and proceeded to throw his equipment and his helmet out of the way.
Ultimately, Tucker may have regretted getting Kelce and Mahomes all worked up ahead of the AFC Championship Game, as the Chiefs went on to win and advance to the Super Bowl for a second straight season as a result.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Kelce and Mahomes talked about the incident with Tucker and how they were prepared to get a penalty if the eight-time All-Pro missed a crucial field goal during the game, via Dov Kleiman.
“When Tucker had a chance to cut the lead to one score, if he would have missed that field goal we were 100% getting a 15-yard flag,” Kelce said.

Obviously, Mahomes and Kelce can joke about the situation now, but it seemed like things got pretty tense last Sunday.
If the Chiefs have proven anything during the Andy Reid era, it’s that you can’t rule them out in the NFL playoffs, nor do you want to give them extra motivation to win games because they don’t need it.
