The Philadelphia Phillies had a bitter taste in their mouth after last season.
Losing the World Series is not something to easily get over.
But, the front office knew they needed to improve their roster to get over the hump.
One player they targeted early on in the offseason was All-Star shortstop Trea Turner.
He and Bryce Harper had a great relationship from their time as teammates in Washington.
Also, the Phillies had an opening at shortstop they wanted to fill.
It seemed like a matchup made in heaven and one both sides capitalized on.
Turner signed an 11-year deal with the Phillies and the first year of that deal has been awesome.
Things may have started slow for Turner but he turned things around over the second half of the year.
He has been even better in the playoffs.
According to Sports Radio 94WIP, Turner has a slash line of .500/.559/.967 in the playoffs.
He also has hit three home runs, with five doubles, and 15 hits in eight games.
Trea Turner’s first postseason as a Phillie (so far):
8 games (7-1)
34 plate appearances
15 hits
8 runs
5 doubles
3 home runs
4 RBIs
4 walks
4 stolen bases

Turner has been electric for the Phillies in the playoffs.
He has been everything the team and fanbase could hope for.
Everything has seemingly gone right for the Phillies in the playoffs.
But, they still have six more games they need to win to be crowned champions.
Looking at the Phillies roster, most of their best players were signed via free agency.
It just goes to show that paying up to acquire the best players does pay off.
