Trevor Lawrence has been a rising young quarterback over the last couple of years, and it looks like his Jacksonville Jaguars have a keeper in him.
After three seasons, his rookie contract will soon run out, which means the Jaguars will need to sign him to an extension to keep him around.
While Lawrence has admitted he has talked to the team about an extension, he said he is keeping the main thing the main thing, per Around The NFL.
“It’s not really my focus right now, at the end of the day, my job isn’t going to change whether I get extended or not before this season,” he said.

Lawrence came on strong in the second half of the 2022 season by throwing for 2,273 yards and 15 touchdowns over the last nine regular-season games, and he led the upstart Jaguars to the playoffs by helping them win the AFC South.
In the playoffs, they defeated the Los Angeles Chargers after falling behind 27-0 late in the second quarter, and Lawrence played brilliantly in the second half after throwing a whopping four interceptions in the first two quarters.
It looked like perhaps Jacksonville was becoming a contender, but they regressed in 2023, finishing second in their division and missing the playoffs.
This offseason, they lost wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who led them in receiving yards and touchdowns last season, to the Tennessee Titans, which should be a sizable blow to an offense that was only middle-of-the-pack in several categories.
The rest of the AFC has gotten deeper, and in particular, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans have improved, which will make it more difficult for Lawrence and the Jaguars to return to the playoffs this winter.
