Just when you think the Los Angeles Dodgers could not get any better, they make another blockbuster move.
A few days after signing Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers made another move to bring in an ace.
The Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays agreed to a deal that will send Tyler Glasnow to LA.
Glasnow was one of the best pitchers in the MLB last season.
His only downfall is that he is often injured.
Last season, he threw 120 innings while striking out 162 batters.
He has always been a dominant strikeout pitcher with his career K/9 at 11.5.
Despite his injury issues, the Dodgers felt comfortable giving Glasnow a lengthy contract.
According to Fabian Ardaya, Glasnow is the sixth Dodgers pitcher to ever sign a $100+ million contract.
Dodgers $100+ million pitching contracts, all-time:
Kevin Brown – 7 years, $105m in 1998
Zack Greinke – 6/$147m in 2012
Clayton Kershaw – 7/$215m in 2014
Trevor Bauer – 3/$102m in 2021
Shohei Ohtani – 10/$700m
Tyler Glasnow – 4/$110m (in new money)

With Ohtani unable to pitch this season, it seems like Glasnow will be the ace of the rotation.
It was not a surprise to see the Rays move Glasnow.
He was set to be a free agent at year’s end and the Rays are not known for spending money on free agents.
On the other hand, the Dodgers will do whatever is necessary to land the best players.
Glasnow should be in for a career year with the Dodgers.
He will be pitching alongside one of the best offenses in baseball.
If healthy, he could easily make a run at NL Cy Young.
The Dodgers are going all-in over the next few seasons.
Anything short of a World Series championship would be a major disappointment.
