Tyreek Hill is the best player on the Miami Dolphins, and one could make a case for him being a top-10 player in franchise history already, at least talent-wise.
Trading for him was a no-brainer for the Dolphins as much as it would’ve been for most teams in the league.
That’s why it was so shocking to see that the Kansas City Chiefs failed to keep him, as he was clearly worth every single penny, even if they were already in a complicated salary cap situation.
In the latest edition of Brandon Marshall’s I AM ATHLETE podcast, Hill explained how things went down and how he ended up in South Beach (via Dov Kleiman).

Hill says the #Chiefs offered him $58 million in guarantees at first but it wasn’t enough, so his agent suggested a trade.

Apparently, he was willing to take less money to stay with the Chiefs so long as the guaranteed money made sense.
The Chiefs reportedly offered him $58 million guaranteed, and the Dolphins swooped in with $70 million, so his agent suggested a trade.
The Jets were also interested and offered him $76 million, but his mom reminded him of state taxes, so he reached out to Zach Wilson to talk about that, and he ended up fulfilling his “dream” of playing for the Dolphins.
It’s hard to believe that a man born and raised in Georgia who played college football in Oklahoma and Alabama would dream of playing for the Dolphins, especially considering they weren’t that good while he was growing up.
Then again, it all worked out perfectly for all parties involved, even for the Chiefs, who won a Super Bowl without him.
