One relationship that is always interesting to watch as the NFL season moves along is the relationship between the starting quarterback and the backup quarterback.
With the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers is the obvious starter given his abilities and career marks.
His backup is former Pro Bowl quarterback and Super Bowl champion Tyrod Taylor.
The 34-year-old recently caught up with the New York media to chat about his relationship with Rodgers.
“A lot of respect for Aaron, he has welcomed me in with open arms…We’ve had a lot of great conversations,” Taylor stated.

This is one of the more experienced quarterback rooms in the league, as Taylor mentioned.
Both he and Rodgers have close to three-and-a-half combined decades of NFL experience, as well as a couple of Super Bowl rings.
That is something the New York Jets don’t have very much of.
Now, with Rodgers being out of mandatory minicamp due to an unknown circumstance, Taylor was given the opportunity to take some of the first-team reps in practice.
It is good for the veteran to get as much time as possible to stay up-to-date with the offense and build a connection with the team’s top skill players.
Rodgers is coming off of a torn Achilles, and he is 40 years of age.
Having a reliable backup matters, as Jets fans know all too well.
Taylor has now played on seven different teams, won an aforementioned Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2012, and he guided the Bills to their first playoff appearance since 1999 in 2017.
The Jets have themselves a very capable quarterback room entering 2024.
