The Los Angeles Chargers had the worst salary cap situation in the NFL, but have cleared up a little bit of space after cutting Mike Williams and trading Keenan Allen to the Bears.
All of a sudden, the team that was tens of millions over the cap is $29 million under the cap and has plenty of flexibility to add to the roster, and they are starting with potentially bringing back one of their own.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that free agent linebacker Denzel Perryman is eyeing a return to LA after playing the first six years of his career as a Charger.

Perryman, 31, is on the market following a one-year stop in Houston where he put up 76 tackles and three pass deflections for the Texans and is now reportedly in discussions with the Chargers about a possible reunion.
Prior to that, Perryman spent two years with the Raiders highlighted by a career-high 154 tackles in 2021 in his first year away from the Chargers.
Injuries have plagued Perryman throughout his career, as he has never played more than 15 games in a season, but he is a consistent veteran contributor that this defense lacks.
LA’s defense was a disaster last season and a big reason why new coach Jim Harbaugh was brought in.
Perryman would add plenty of stability to a unit that is in desperate need of it, and he likely won’t cost much money.
Perryman was a second-round pick by the Chargers back in 2015 and has 662 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his career so far.
