The Philadelphia Eagles clearly missed Jonathan Gannon last season.
Nick Sirianni even wound up replacing Sean Desai with Matt Patricia at one point to try and fix their inexplicably inconsistent defense.
That’s why they wanted to bring in one of the best in business to solve that issue, getting Vic Fangio.
Fangio had outstayed his welcome in South Beach and reportedly had a complicated relationship with some Miami Dolphins players, but his reputation still preceded him as one of the best defensive minds in the game.
Moreover, it seems like Fangio is also a bit of a Billy Beane himself.
In a recent sitdown with the media, the renowned coach admitted that he had his very own personal and secret system for analytics (via NBC Sports Philadelphia).
We love a good secret

He confessed that no one else on Earth; not his protégés or fellow coaches was even aware of this system.
And while he obviously takes a look at whatever numbers the team gives him, he then compares them to his own metrics and filters out what he considers to be relevant.
Everybody has their preferred method and approach to work, and Fangio’s reputation speaks for itself, so who are we to judge?
Even so, all eyes will be on the City of Brotherly Love next season, so he better hope his methods work.
Nick Sirianni could be on thin ice and patience might be running out there, and Fangio could be one of the team’s candidates to take over as head coach if they end up parting ways.
