Ever since the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, there has been a ton of speculation about the team potentially trading star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
In fact, coming into the 2024 NFL Draft, it seemed as though the team might trade Aiyuk or fellow star wideout Deebo Samuel with a ton of young and talented wide receivers available.
Despite all the speculation and rumors swirling about the 49ers’ intentions, the storied franchise stood pat and didn’t trade one of their star pass-catchers, but they did bring in a wide receiver in Ricky Pearsall, out of the University of Florida.
Apparently, the 49ers couldn’t resist once they were on the clock, and the former Gators star was still available at No. 31 overall, so they brought him in.
The 49ers’ first-round draft pick is already getting some work in returning punts, via 49ers on NBCS.

With the 49ers having so many star players on the offensive side of the football, like George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Samuel, and Aiyuk, there is a lot of ball to go around in San Francisco, but Kyle Shanahan and company might get creative with Pearsall.
It’ll be interesting to see how Pearsall is used during the 2024 NFL season and whether he spends more time on special teams than catching passes downfield.
The 49ers are expected to be a juggernaut in the NFC once again during the 2024 campaign, as Brock Purdy and company want to win that elusive Super Bowl title.
