Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s return to the field after a seven-game absence didn’t last very long.
Jefferson played just 13 offensive snaps and caught two of three targets for 27 yards before a chest injury knocked him out for the game.
His status for Week 15 – as well as the rest of the season – remained up in the air as the Vikings waited to hear more about his injury.
Fortunately for Minnesota, the injury doesn’t sound as bad as originally feared.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell revealed Jefferson is day-to-day with the injury and could recover in time to play this Saturday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Vikings’ HC Kevin O’Connell considers WR Justin Jefferson day-to-day with the chest injury he suffered Sunday vs. the Raiders and the team believes he has a chance to play Saturday vs. the Bengals.

Jeffersons’ 2023 season hasn’t gone well since he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5.
After three consecutive 150-yard outings and a six-catch, 85-yard, two-touchdown performance to open the year, Jefferson pulled his hamstring in a Week 5 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He missed the next seven games, during which the Vikings went 6-2 with Kirk Cousins and Joshua Dobbs at quarterback.
Jefferson’s return was much anticipated, but a hit by Las Vegas Raiders safety Marcus Epps sent Jefferson to the turf and then eventually to the hospital.
Jefferson still traveled back to Minnesota with his team after initial tests determined his injury wasn’t as bad.
Nevertheless, Jefferson’s fourth season remains a disappointment because of his injury issues.
The Vikings will also have to figure out his contract extension this offseason – one that could make him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.
Right now, though, Minnesota just hopes he can play in Week 15.
