Hezbollah’s deputy political chief, Mahmoud Qamati, revealed that the group has yet to unleash its full missile capabilities against Israel, warning that its arsenal is powerful enough to strike targets up to 140 kilometers away. “Our missile capabilities are strong, and our stockpile can last a long time,” Qamati told Al Jazeera, adding that recent Israeli claims about Hezbollah’s weakened missile capacity are “a complete lie.”
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, as Israeli forces reportedly continue airstrikes across Lebanon, including near Beirut. Qamati emphasized Hezbollah’s preparedness, asserting that Israel’s threats, including comments from Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant suggesting the possible assassination of Hezbollah’s new Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, do not intimidate the group.
Qamati also dismissed any immediate interest in negotiations, stating, “Our priority is to be in the field now. We rely on [Lebanese Parliament Speaker] Nabih Berri for political matters, and we do not accept any negotiations under fire.”
Hezbollah claims that since late September, Israeli operations have extended beyond Gaza into Lebanon, a move condemned internationally but reportedly ongoing despite UN resolutions urging restraint.
