Yemen’s Houthi group, Ansar Allah, announced it targeted an industrial area in Ashkelon, southern Israel, through a series of drone strikes, marking a bold escalation in the regional conflict. According to the group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, the attack was intended as “a qualitative military operation” against what he referred to as “the Israeli enemy.” Saree claimed that the drones successfully hit their intended targets near the Gaza Strip.
In a televised statement, Saree warned that Houthi forces would continue operations in response to Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, pledging to persist “until the aggression against Gaza and Lebanon ends and the blockade on Gaza is lifted.”
The Israeli military confirmed that three drones were detected on Tuesday—two reportedly originating from Lebanon and one from Yemen. A military spokesperson indicated that one of the drones fell in an open area within Ashkelon.
