The Green Bay Packers aren’t a team that typically makes a lot of noise in free agency, but this offseason they have made a few big splashes in an effort to capitalize on an impressive run to the NFC Divisional round in the playoffs in 2023.
One of those splashes was landing safety Xavier McKinney from the Giants on a 4-year, $67 million deal and adding him to a secondary that desperately needed reinforcements after losing Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, and Jonathan Ford to free agency.
McKinney shared a message with his new fans on X, letting Packers fans know “you will get my best every single day.”
It feels good to feel wanted and to see it .. like really wanted by these fans and the organization. To Packers fans you will get my best every single day thank you for this opportunity real talk LETS GOO ! #GoPackGo

McKinney is still just 25 years old and coming off a career year where he posted a career-high 116 tackles to go along with three picks and 11 pass deflections.
McKinney also acknowledged in his tweet how good it feels to feel wanted by fans and an organization and really being able to see it.
That could be a thinly-veiled shot at the Giants, but McKinney is putting his days in blue behind him after they made him a 2nd-round pick out of Alabama in 2020 and he, along with new Packers running back Josh Jacobs, will be the top earners at their respective positions in 2024.
McKinney will be relied upon to immediately be the leader of this secondary alongside corner Jaire Alexander.
Losing so much secondary talent to free agency made getting someone like McKinney a big priority, and GM Brian Gutekunst was up to the challenge and brought in one of the best in the business.
