The New York Yankees have the same manager for the 2024 season in Aaron Boone.
There are some changes on his coaching staff, though.
Sean Casey announced he wouldn’t return as the hitting coach and was replaced by James Rowson.
Bench coach Carlos Mendoza, who left to manage the New York Mets, also needed to be replaced.
The Yankees announced on Tuesday that Brad Ausmus will be taking over for Mendoza in the role, per insider Joel Sherman.
I can report now that Ausmus was hired to be the Yankees bench coach. https://t.co/ndQtjJtrmO

Ausmus had a long, productive career as a player.
He stayed in the majors as a catcher for 18 seasons, playing for the San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
After retiring, he managed the Detroit Tigers (2014-17) and Los Angeles Angels (2019), plus the Israel national baseball team.
He compiled a 386–422 record (.478 winning percentage) as the skipper of the only two teams that haven’t made the postseason since 2014.
Still, Ausmus is an experienced baseball man with people skills, and he could prove to be an asset in his new role with the Yankees.
They say that catchers make for good managers and coaches, and Ausmus certainly was a top defensive backstop.
He won three Gold Gloves in his playing career and knows how to talk to players, particularly pitchers.
His most recent role in MLB was in 2022, as the Oakland Athletics bench coach.
The Yankees coaching staff is about finalized now, with Matt Blake returning as the pitching coach and Rowson ready to try and help the offense in his new role.
