The New York Yankees have made the first big splash of the MLB offseason.
Many people were wondering what the Yankees would do to improve their roster.
As a franchise known for having one of the highest payrolls in baseball, the Yankees went out and got another star.
The Yankees and San Diego Padres agreed to a deal that will send Juan Soto to New York.
Soto has one year remaining on his contract and will become a free agent after this upcoming season.
Still, the Yankees must feel confident they can re-sign Soto.
One player Soto has always been a fan of is Yankee legend Derek Jeter.
In a video shared by MLB on Twitter, Soto went to the league’s store and bought a Jeter jersey with hopes he could sign it.
Jeter responded to Soto by saying, “See you at Yankee Stadium.”

It is safe to say Soto will be able to get his Jeter jersey signed now that he is a Yankee.
This move shook up the landscape of the MLB.
Now the Yankees are back to being contenders after a down year.
Soto and Aaron Judge give them one of the best one-two punches in baseball.
Also, Yankee Stadium should be perfect for the kind of hitter Soto is.
The short porch in right field should allow him to set a career-high in home runs.
Anything short of a deep playoff run would be a disappointment for this team.
It will be interesting to see how Soto fares in his first season in pinstripes.
