The New York Yankees and their fans had their world turned upside down on Monday, when it was revealed that ace Gerrit Cole would undergo an MRI on his right elbow.
Cole said the recovery process between starts was not normal, so he let the team know and they are now willing and eager to take every step in the process to correctly diagnose what is happening to his elbow.
On Monday, reporters said that the results weren’t going to be revealed for at least a day or two.
Following those guidelines, Yankees manager Aaron Boone updated Cole’s status today and reiterated that they are still getting tests and gathering opinions.
“Nothing definitive to announce on Gerrit Cole, Aaron Boone said. More testing today and ‘it’s still probably going to be a couple of days until everybody weighs in on it,’” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted.

Insiders have suggested that the world would know about Cole’s right elbow “mid-week”, and that appears to be the case.
They want to have several people, including specialists, looking at that MRI.
In all likelihood, we are looking at Wednesday or Thursday to know what is going on with the reigning AL Cy Young award winner.
In the meantime, the Yankees, and particularly their fans, are praying that his ligaments are intact and he doesn’t need surgery.
A long-term absence of Cole would be the closest thing to a death sentence for the Yankees’ 2024 hopes.
We will know more soon enough.
