MLB’s official Twitter account is still producing content to keep fans engaged.
Whether they post videos of 2023’s best plays, news, signing and trade rumors, or power rankings, they are very much active on social media.
This week, they published a list of sleepers (players who might be underrated heading into 2024 and who may break out when nobody expects them).
“Sleeper” is a somewhat controversial term but generally refers, mostly, to undervalued players with considerable upside.
The league’s latest list was a bit debatable, to say the least.

Generally speaking, some of these guys are undervalued heading into next campaign, and can easily outperform their projections and expectations.
However, it’s odd to see Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. topping the group.
It’s hard to be undervalued, or considered a “sleeper,” when he just hit 30 home runs with 49 stolen bases and a .813 OPS.
He also scored 97 runs and drove in 96 runs for a really lousy Royals team.
Perhaps MLB considers that, because he plays in Kansas City, he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.
The term “sleeper,” however, might be a bit of a stretch.
Paul Skenes’ name might be more appropriate for the exercise, as is Nolan Jones or even Jung-Hoo Lee.
But control artist and established mid-rotation starter George Kirby was also shocking to see.
In any case, this list of players is expected to outperform season expectations next year.
All of them, or most, are young and talented, with playing time opportunities to justify such a projection.
