After making it all the way to the AFC Championship in each of their last two seasons, the Cincinnati Bengals were viewed by many as a championship contender heading into the 2023 campaign.
Instead, the Bengals got off to a 1-3 start, and there were plenty of doubts about their chances to be successful this season.
Credit to Cincinnati, however, as they’ve been able to completely turn their season around, and they now have a 5-3 record heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Houston Texans.
In terms of who deserves credit for the Bengals’ turnaround during the last few weeks, Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor would like the team’s defensive line to get some praise for their efforts (via Mike Petraglia on Twitter).
“I don’t think our D-line, in general, gets enough credit.” Zac Taylor.

Taylor wants his defensive line to get more credit, but their performance this season hasn’t really been anything special.
Through their first eight games, the Bengals defense is allowing the second-most yards per rush attempt, and their pass defense ranks 22nd in the league.
Now, Cincinnati is only allowing their opponents to average 20.3 points per matchup, which is the 12th-best in the entire NFL.
How much does the Bengals defensive line have to do with their limited success?
Well, it’s difficult to determine the exact impact of the unit, but Taylor certainly thinks his defensive line has made a big difference in the team’s performance during the last few weeks.
Cincinnati will need the help of their defensive line if they want to get a win over the Texans and their talented rookie quarterback, C.J. Stroud, this Sunday.
