The Cincinnati Bengals have a tough situation on their hands.
They placed star WR Tee Higgins under the franchise tag, but he’s not satisfied with that situation.
The Clemson product reportedly requested a trade.
As much as he loves the team, the city, and the fan base, he’s livid at the fact that the team didn’t even try to sign him to a long-term deal after tagging him.
With that in mind, Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reached out to head coach Zac Taylor to pick his brain on how the team plans to deal with this situation.
Coach Taylor claimed that Higgins gives them the best chance to pursue a Super Bowl.
“We think he’s our best chance to help us win a Super Bowl. I’ve enjoyed working with Tee the last four years, I expect this year to be no different,” Taylor said.

Clearly, the Bengals don’t want to cave.
They’ve cleared cap space left and right, so there’s still a chance that they will be able to keep him for the long run.
Nonetheless, their relationship might be broken beyond repair already.
On top of that, the Bengals know they must save as much money as they can for Ja’Marr Chase’s impending contract extension.
Also, the Bengals had a similar stance with Joe Mixon, and they wound up moving on from him anyway, and it’s never good to have a disgruntled player in the locker room.
It’ll be interesting to see how they deal with this situation, especially now that former offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is no longer on the premises.
