The Washington Commanders are looking to rebuild their roster.
With Dan Quinn as the new boss in town and Kliff Kingsbury in charge of the offense, we might see several new faces in the nation’s capital.
Notably, they’re looking at proven veterans to revamp the tight-end position.
According to a report by NFL insider Peter Schrager, they’ve been in talks with Zach Ertz.

This is far from a surprise, as the Commanders have struggled with injuries at the position, and he’s familiar with Kingsbury’s offense from their days together with the Arizona Cardinals.
While their tenure together was shortlived, Kingsbury is clearly a fan of his game.
Ertz asked to be released last season as he pursued a chance to play for a ring.
He briefly joined the Detroit Lions but wasn’t able to get on the field in time for their NFC Championship Game vs. the San Francisco 49ers.
The Lions could definitely use his veteran leadership, but he’s 33 years old already, and they have a promising rookie in Sam LaPorta.
Needless to say, Zach Ertz is heading toward the sunset of his career at this point, and he’s also struggled with injuries over the past couple of years.
Then again, with the Commanders most likely pursuing a rookie quarterback and looking to establish a new offensive system, it makes sense to have a familiar face and a bona fide veteran helping make the transition smoother for this team.
