The Washington Commanders are at the start of a new era in their franchise’s journey.
They hired former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and also drafted former Heisman winner Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall draft pick this offseason.
A lot of eyes will be on this organization and roster moving forward as they attempt to turn themselves into a winner.
Speaking of the roster, head coach Dan Quinn recently announced two roster moves in front of the D.C. media before the start of training camp practice.
“(John Newton) got cleared yesterday…He’ll begin an individual process…That’s some great news…Efe (Obada) will be on the PUP as he is still coming back from his injury,” Quinn stated.

Starting with Newton, the former All-American and second-round pick out of Illinois this year has been activated off the PUP List and is inching his way back towards joining team drills.
In his final year at Illinois, he recorded 7.5 sacks which gave him a career total of 18 (tied for the most in the history of the program for a defensive tackle).
If and when he returns to full health, look for Newton to be a force for Quinn on the interior.
With the 32-year-old Efe Obada (leg), he is going on the PUP List at the start of training camp despite making some progress.
Entering his seventh NFL season and third with Washington, the veteran defensive end has 88 career tackles, 15 career sacks, and 42 career quarterback hits.
Time will tell to see if and when he can get back with the team in a full-go capacity.
