The Kansas City Royals want to find a way back into contention.
Last season was a complete disaster, only winning 56 games.
But, the Royals front office has made it a point to be aggressive in free agency.
For a team that never spends money, the Royals have already made two quality signings.
First, the Royals added starting pitcher Seth Lugo into the fold.
Now they are back with another nice starting pitcher addition.
According to Jeff Passan, the Royals have signed Michael Wacha to a two-year, $32 million contract.

Last season, Wacha had a resurgence.
Pitching for the Padres, he went 14-4 with a 3.22 ERA across 134.1 innings.
Wacha and Lugo now join a rotation with Cole Ragans in what is a formidable top three.
Some people are impressed with how much the Royals have spent so far this offseason.

While it may not seem like much, the Royals are getting better.
Plus, they continue to have some young players who are continuing to develop.
The Royals keep loading up on solid MLB players while other teams are just waiting around for some miracle to happen to their rosters.

One thing going for the Royals is that they play in the AL Central.
That is one of the worst divisions in baseball and it is up for grabs in 2024.
All the Royals should hope for is to be in contention.
After a 56-win season, they were out of the race early in the year.
But, these signings should give fans something to be excited about.

At least trying to improve the roster is what fans want to see.
There is no question the Royals have done that.
It will be interesting to see how much improved this team is in 2024.
