During his time with the Minnesota Vikings, Danielle Hunter was widely regarded to be one of the best defensive ends in the NFL, as he has been a consistent force to be reckoned with on an annual basis while regularly recording double-digit sacks.
However, it appears that his time with the Vikings is coming to an end, as Minnesota seems content with moving on from Hunter, even though he recorded a career-high 16.5 sacks last season and can still play the game at a high level at 29 years old.
Although Hunter is one of the best pass rushers in the game today, he wasn’t one of the big-name players off the board early in the legal tampering period ahead of the start of NFL free agency this week.
Even though Hunter doesn’t seem to be getting much interest on the open market, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, he does have mutual interest with the upstart Houston Texans.
There’s mutual interest between #Texans and #Vikings Pro Bowl free agent defensive end Danielle Hunter, per league sources, but nothing imminent. Fluid situation, multiple #NFL teams are intrigued by Morton Ranch grad coming off 16 1/2 sack year, has 87 1/2 career sacks @KPRC2

With the Texans being a team on the rise in the NFL and in need of some upgrades on the defensive side of the football, it seems to make sense that the two sides are expressing mutual interest, as it would be a game-changing move for Houston after an impressive 2023 campaign.
If the Texans can agree to a deal with Hunter, Houston’s defensive line will have improved considerably, and it will be a scary sight for opposing offenses next season and beyond.
Houston could be the favorites to win the AFC South division right out of the gate next season with C.J. Stroud leading the offense and Hunter leading the defense.
