Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was a hot commodity around the NFL, as it was expected that he’d land a head coaching job in the league.
Surprisingly enough, Bieniemy did end up leaving Andy Reid’s coaching staff in Kansas City, but it wasn’t for a head coaching gig in the league as many anticipated.
Bieniemy ended up taking the job as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders under head coach Ron Rivera, which was thought to be a great move for the struggling franchise.
Unfortunately, the Commanders struggled once again this season despite some drastic changes due to new ownership, leaving Bieniemy in a position where he could be on the move once again.
On Thursday, Bieniemy was asked what the future holds for him in the NFL, and his answer clearly paved the way for other opportunities or simply staying put in the nation’s capital if they’ll have him via JP Finlay of NBC4 Sports.
“You live in the moment. The only thing I can worry about and control is today,” Bieniemy said.

With many head coaching vacancies expected during the upcoming NFL offseason, Bieniemy might have no shortage of opportunities, and if he doesn’t see a bright future in Washington, he might choose to jump ship.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with the Commanders and whether the new ownership under Josh Harris wants to clean house over the offseason in an effort to start fresh next season.
Only time will tell what the future holds for the storied franchise and whether Bieniemy is in the team’s long-term plans.
