Back in 2021, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow had himself a breakout performance when he hauled in 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns.
Raiders fans were hoping for Renfrow to have a similar performance last season, but injuries and a new offensive philosophy resulted in him only finishing the 2022 campaign with 36 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns.
This year, his opportunities are basically non-existent, as he’s only been targeted three times in Las Vegas’ three games.
Despite his lack of chances to do much of anything on the field this season, Renfrow is still attempting to keep a positive mindset, per The Athletic via ProFootballTalk.
“I’m still figuring it out. It’s a day-to-day process. For me, it’s more so just controlling what I can every single day because I don’t make decisions, right? I could have a great day or a bad day, but it still doesn’t [change anything]. I don’t get to call the plays. And that was one thing I reflected on this year: No matter what happens, just to control what I can control and be a great teammate every day. I’m not having a great year statistically right now, but I’ve had a lot of joy every day in being with my teammates because of that.”

Renfrow’s drop in usage has been very drastic, and it’s unclear why the Raiders have decided not to really involve him in their offense this season, especially since he’s carrying a cap hit of a little more than $13.1 million this year.
Most players around the NFL that are making the kind of money Renfrow is taking home this season (more than $11.5 million in cash) would likely be freaking out if they only had three targets in the first three games of the year.
But the veteran receiver hasn’t caused a stir or created any sort of drama within the organization, even if he truly is disappointed with his current role in the offense.
It’s even more shocking that Renfrow hasn’t been utilized more by Las Vegas this season following the departure of tight end Darren Waller earlier this year.
Despite his lack of targets, Renfrow has been trying to make the best of his current situation, but one has to imagine the competitor inside of him is furious.
