After Josh Harris and his ownership group, which includes Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, took over for longtime owner Daniel Snyder, the Washington Commanders franchise was expected to head in the right direction.
Unfortunately, the 2023 NFL season didn’t go as planned for Harris and company, with the team limping to a 4-13 finish that resulted in missing the playoffs and a lot of questions about what changes would be made moving forward.
Even though there were a lot of decisions to be made over the course of the NFL offseason, the Commanders didn’t waste any time once the season was officially over by parting ways with head coach Ron Rivera and hiring Adam Peters, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, as the team’s new general manager.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Peters will sign a five-year deal with the team and will immediately get into the coaching search once that deal is done.

With no shortage of options to be the new head coach of the Commanders, it’ll be interesting to see who Peters brings in to be Rivera’s successor on the sideline in the nation’s capital.
Although there’s been a lot of buzz about the Commanders potentially going after Bill Belichick after he and the New England Patriots recently agreed to part ways, it doesn’t seem as though that is the path the team is taking or they heard he’s not interested in the opportunity.
If Belichick isn’t an option, the team can go in a few different directions, with University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh interested in returning to the NFL, but it remains to be seen whether he’s looking to interview for the Commanders job.
