After a disastrous 2023 NFL season, which basically began and ended with the catastrophic Achilles injury suffered by superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets are hoping to get back to Super Bowl title contender status during the 2024 campaign.
Rodgers is fully recovered from his season-ending injury from last year and is ready to get back to work come Week 1 when the Jets go on the road to take on the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area.
In the meantime, head coach Robert Saleh and his coaching staff are trying to prepare their squad for the upcoming 2024 campaign and what could be a potential run at winning it all.
Although things are looking up in New York with Rodgers’ return and a few key additions to the roster, the Jets are not without considerable distractions, mainly stemming from the unexcused absence of their superstar quarterback at mandatory minicamp.
It wasn’t all that long ago that Rodgers made it clear that he wanted no outside noise to impact the team and to make it all about football.
He’s seemingly done the opposite this offseason, with talks of considering becoming a running mate for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and now missing minicamp.
According to ESPN’s Mike Greenberg via “The Pat McAfee Show,” Saleh addressed Rodgers’ absence recently, which seemed to have made matters worse.
“Robert Saleh has completely mishandled this Aaron Rodgers situation,” Greenberg said.

The very simple answer to the question is Aaron has been at everything & he’s at something that’s very important to him” ~ @Espngreeny #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/x9tLbdWG0X

The perplexing part of all of this is the fact that Rodgers knows full well that his absence would become a distraction and make daily headlines in the biggest market in professional sports.
This was an avoidable situation, but he has chosen to make matters complicated, which makes his prior statement about being all about football appear kind of bogus.
